Dr. Wetzel entered the field of insurance medicine in 2011. Prior to becoming a Medical Director, Dr. Wetzel practiced family medicine for 19 years in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area. Dr. Wetzel earned his BS in Premedicine at The Pennsylvania State University and received his MD from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed his residency program in family medicine at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Va. Dr. Wetzel is active in the industry as a contributing editor to On The Risk and is a medical consultant for the Academy of Life Underwriting. He is the president of the American Academy of Insurance Medicine and is also a member of several committees of AAIM. He has presented at both local and national underwriter meetings.
